Buffalo Evangelical Free Church (BEFC) began as God called seven families together in the fall of 1988. This group met weekly in a home for a time of prayer, teaching, and fellowship. God blessed the ministry in January of 1989 as the group extended a call to their first pastor, and he and his family began serving the Lord at BEFC in July of 1989.

Through the years, the small fellowship grew through emphasis on small group ministies and outreach programs like AWANA and a strong youth ministry. We also started a ministry to the inmates in our local jail, where we would send teams in to lead a Sunday Service with singing and teaching.

Because of an emphasis of staff over facilities, we met at various schools in the community, and rented office space for staff through the early years of our ministry. In the spring of 1996, we dedicated our first facility of 13,500 square feet, consisting of a multi-purpose room, offices, youth rooms, and class rooms. The church continued to grow and an additional 10,000 square feet of educational space was added in 2000.

In addition to focusing on our local community, Buffalo Evangelical Free Church has helped plant two churches in our surrounding communities, and one in Belarus. Growth opportunities are enormous, since we are located in a bedroom community of the Twin Cities, and in one of the fastest growin counties in the state of Minnesota. Much of the growth has been young famlies that want to raise their children outside the metropolitan area.

Today, we are a group of believers who tend to be looking outward to the community around us. Our facility hosts numerous support and civic groups, meetings and events. Our Wednesday night programs include more youth from outside our church than youth from our own families. The jail ministry outreach continues with three or four different teams going to the Wright County Jail to lead worship. Our youth have led numerous ministry teams all around the United States.

As we look forward, we believe that God is abel to do "immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20). God has accomplished much already through BEFC, but there is more work to be done!
